Data Protection Protocol

Effective Date: January 15, 2024

The STL Bio-Compute Collective (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates as a managed talent marketplace. We take the privacy of our candidates and the trust of our employer partners seriously. This policy outlines how we handle data to maintain anonymity and security.

1. For Candidates (The “Supply” Side)

Anonymity by Default: Your public profile on our registry is anonymized. We strip your name, email, phone number, and direct links to your personal social media (LinkedIn, GitHub) from the public-facing view.

  • Candidate ID: You are assigned a unique identifier (e.g., #005).
  • Code Samples: We display selected code snippets to prove your skills, but we do not link to repositories that could reveal your identity until an interview is requested.

Information We Collect:

  • Identity: Name, Email, LinkedIn Profile.
  • Technical Evidence: GitHub repositories, portfolio links, thesis details.
  • Status: Visa eligibility (STEM OPT), degree verification.

How We Use It:

  • To vet your skills (Code Audit).
  • To create your anonymized “High Signal” profile.
  • To introduce you to employers only after they have requested an interview and you have consented.

2. For Employers (The “Demand” Side)

Information We Collect:

  • Name, Email, Institution/Lab Name.
  • Hiring intent and role requirements.

How We Use It:

  • To facilitate introductions to candidates.
  • To process Referral Agreements and invoices.

3. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell data. We are not a data broker. We share candidate identity with an employer only when:

  1. The Employer has requested an interview.
  2. The Employer has signed our Referral Agreement (or agreed to terms).
  3. The Candidate has been notified.

4. Code of Conduct

We expect all participants to respect the integrity of the hiring process.

  • Employers: You agree not to attempt to reverse-engineer candidate identities to bypass the platform.
  • Candidates: You agree to represent your skills and work authorization accurately.
