Data Protection Protocol

Effective Date: February 1, 2026

Biointal (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates as a managed talent marketplace for computational biology and bioinformatics professionals. We take the privacy of our candidates and the trust of our employer partners seriously. This policy outlines how we handle data to maintain anonymity and security.

1. For Candidates (The “Supply” Side)

Anonymity by Default: Your public profile on our registry is anonymized. We strip your name, email, phone number, and direct links to your personal social media (LinkedIn, GitHub) from the public-facing view.

  • Candidate ID: You are assigned a unique identifier (e.g., #005).
  • Code Samples: We may display selected code snippets to demonstrate your skills, but we do not link to repositories that could reveal your identity until an interview is requested.

Information We Collect:

  • Identity: Name, email, LinkedIn profile.
  • Technical Evidence: GitHub repositories, portfolio links, and thesis or project details.
  • Status: Visa eligibility, degree verification, and availability.

How We Use It:

  • To vet your skills via code audit and domain interview.
  • To create your anonymized profile for the registry.
  • To introduce you to employers only after they have requested an interview and you have been notified.

2. For Employers (The “Demand” Side)

Information We Collect:

  • Name, email, and organisation name.
  • Hiring intent and role requirements.
  • Portal login credentials (hashed; never stored in plain text).

How We Use It:

  • To provide access to the Biointal Employer Portal.
  • To facilitate introductions to candidates.
  • To process referral agreements and invoices.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell data. We are not a data broker.

We share candidate identity with an employer only when:

  1. The employer has requested an introduction.
  2. The employer has agreed to our referral terms.
  3. The candidate has been notified.

4. Code of Conduct

We expect all participants to respect the integrity of the hiring process.

  • Employers: You agree not to attempt to reverse-engineer candidate identities to bypass the platform.
  • Candidates: You agree to represent your skills and work authorisation accurately.
